Teaser for Biblical Horror Film The Carpenter’s Son Starring Nicolas Cage
According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Magnolia Pictures has released a short teaser for The Carpenter’s Son, directed by Egyptian-American filmmaker Lotfy Nathan. The film stars Nicolas Cage, FKA Twigs, Noah Jupe, and Souheila Yacoub.
The Carpenter’s Son presents the childhood of Christ through the lens of horror. Nathan’s screenplay is inspired by the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, a 2nd-century text. Cage, who won an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas, plays the Carpenter; Grammy nominee Twigs portrays the Mother; and Jupe takes on the role of the Son.
Nathan rose to prominence with his debut feature Harka, which screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. Actor Adam Bessa won Best Actor at the festival for his performance. Prior to that, Nathan directed the 2014 documentary 12 O’Clock Boys.
Cage was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for Dream Scenario and appeared in The Surfer in the Midnight section at Cannes. Twigs starred in the acclaimed Honey Boy and the recent remake of The Crow, while Jupe was recently seen in Lady in the Lake. Yacoub, meanwhile, appeared in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two.
The Carpenter’s Son will be released in fall 2025.
